My love will never change

 When he woke up that morning, she leaned and kissed him on the lips.

She said “ I want you to promise me, we will always feel like this”.

 He Looked down  smiling  warmly, brushing her hair away

He said “Darling I can’t promise you that my love will never change”.

 I can promise you, my love  will only grow stronger

with each and every sunrise, with every drop of rain

I swear I’ll stay here by your side until we’re old and grey

But Darling, I can’t promise you, my love  will never change.


 For many years, they stuck together, through the good times and the bad. 

She knew how to make him happy, he sure could make her mad.

many times they both wanted to just give up and walk away.

but, they held tight to that  promise, on that morning  he had made.

 It’s been 10 years  since the good Lord, took  her from his side

He knows she’s in a better place, but he still wonders why?

Sometimes he closes his eyes, so he can see her pretty face

He recalls their long life together and the  promise that he made.
